The biggest problem you may be facing as a network marker is traffic. Not just any kind of traffic, but targeted traffic. Lead generation in network marketing has always been a sticky subject.

Let me explain…

What do you say to people to get them to go to your website?

What do you say to people to get them to opt-in into your site?

What do you say to people to get them to want to buy from you?

Here are the facts….

People will pay you hand over fist for what they don’t have.

When people lack something or think they lack something, they will search to no end to find the information…and even pay for it if they feel that it will help them solve their problem.

Know thy prospect and you will have uncanny success.

You’re probably thinking that this is all well and good, but how do I get targeted traffic?

Ok, let me break this down…

Lead generation in network marketing in 5 steps:

Step 1 – Know exactly what kind of person you want to target. What is it that you’re selling? What problem does it solve? Your product or service is a solution to people. You have to figure out what it is. Magnetic Sponsoring goes deeper into this.

Step 2Message consistency. Make sure your lead capture page…the page where your prospect ultimately ends up at, speaks to your prospects. And your message is congruent all the way through. You don’t want to “kick-up” any discrepancy because then that can lead to doubt in your prospect’s mind.

Step 3Your follow-up messages offer advice and recommendations. There’s the saying people don’t care about you until you’ve shown how much you care about them. Or something to that effect 😉 But it’s really true. To most prospects, you’re just another marketer trying to get into their wallet. You’ve got to prove otherwise.

Step 4 – By this step, you have you ideal prospect in mind, you have a follow-up system set up. Now you need to either find the places online where your ideal prospect likes to hang out or bring the prospects to you via SEO techniques.

If you’re new to all of this I suggest starting with one marketing technique first before adding on others. At this step decide which one it will be. For example, forum posting is a good way to start generating traffic. You have to find a targeted forum for what you’re promoting. Remember, you want to be where your prospects are.

In SEO, you’re bringing prospects to you via keywords. You could go the free route and put out content such as articles, blog posts, videos that are keyword optimized or you could do pay per click which does require both skills and money.

Step 5– You’re putting all this together. Everything is targeted, from your lead capture page to your messages in your autoresponder to the way you find your ideal prospects. In this step you want to know what’s pulling in the most traffic for you.

And the only way to know that is to track. There are free services that give you back very limited tracking info. The best tracking programs are the ones you host. Second best would be a web based one if you don’t want to go the hosting route and don’t want to mess around with installing scripts. So, you’re going to pay a little bit of money.

I know tracking isn’t the funnest thing to do and is probably the one area where I could really need some improvement myself 😉


But let me tell you this…


Nothing sucks more, excuse my language, than having traffic come to your site, and opt-in even…and you don’t know where the traffic is coming from. It’s like you’re getting the best tasting milk, but you don’t know which of the 1001 cows it’s coming from. That’s probably a bad example…but I’m sure you get the point. Let’s just put it like this…


You cannot improve upon what you don’t know.


This seems like a lot of things to do in order to get targeted traffic, and I’m not pretending that it’s not. But you must know the people who go the extra mile are the ones who end up having success. It’s always been that way.

You could search all over the Internet and put all these components together, or do it the smarter way and find a source where all these pieces have been put together for you. You can choose what you want or try to design your own.

Either which way you choose, it’s going to take a little bit more effort than the next “guy” if you want to succeed in Internet network marketing. Lead generation in network marketing…takes time, but I’m sure your dreams are worth it.

    • Attraction marketing is commonly used within the “cold” market -those people you don’t know.

      Your friends and family already know you and you should already have some credibility and clout with them so it makes it “easier” for them to join you in whatever it is you’re promoting.
